Earlier this week, file-sharing service Dropbox announced a long-awaited upgrade to its desktop clients for Mac and PC, that introduces a new menu bar layout, allows for quicker file sharing, and improves the app’s notification system.
The most significant update in Dropbox 2.0 is the entirely new file sharing view, which replaces the old, cluttered drop-down design with a much cleaner, simpler look. The new menu makes it much easier to share files with a link directly from the Dropbox desktop menu, lowering the number steps needed to send content to others.
In keeping with that change, the Dropbox menu has been improved to also accept files more easily, with access to shared files right from within the menu itself.
There’s been a concerted effort to improve both Dropbox’s website and mobile apps on a more regular basis, but it’s nice to see the team keep a focus on its traditional desktop client as well. The update can be downloaded from their forums – here.
The revision is FREE, and we highly encourage you to check it out.
