Interactive sonic application developer Smule is this weekend releasing a brand new app for iOS which, it hopes, will get users excited about music (again).
Described as a “unique experience” between both guitar and singer, Guitar! is basically a stripped-down version of Guitar Hero for iPhone (and iPad), that the firm says allows users to create an “invaluable foundation” for their singer, as they strum the chords of the song.
“Add personal flourishes on individual strings, a bit of vibrato, or emphasis on particular notes. And for advanced players or those who just want to jam out and sing to your own tune, check out our freestyle mode!”
Smule says that whilst using the app you’ll “always sound good,” but don’t dismiss a little practice, as this will not only make you better, but the app will actually reward you for doing so. The more you play Guitar!, the more you earn in-game.
By default, Guitar! comes packed with an available songbook which includes a variety of chart-toppers and guitar-driven melodies, such as:
- When I Was Your Man by Bruno Mars
- I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz
- Bubbly by Colbie Caillat
- Stand By Me by Ben E. King
- I’m Yours by Jason Mraz
- Your Song by Elton John
- The A Team by Ed Sheeran
- Home by Phillip Phillips
- Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen
- Amazing Grace
While Smule is notably limiting the amount of songs available to users in this initial version, the firm notes that it wanted to make sure that every song was “fun, satisfying, and a bit challenging.”
The company adds, however, that more songs will be added to the songbook gradually, overtime, with users available to vote on which songs they would like to see included in the songbook directly from within the app.
