Google Maps 2.0 brings with it a variety of new features and enhancements which are bound to make your navigation of your local area, (and the world), more pleasurable. To start, the latest update arrives with a completely new and re-thought user interface for using the service on Apple’s iPad. Marking the first build of the app which also supports Apple’s popular tablet, Google Maps on iPad generally functions and looks as it is meant to — clean, simple and easy-to-use.
The company has in this version also improved the app’s navigation features, which now include live traffic updates and incident reports , giving you a better overall view of your route and how long it might take you to reach your destination, taking the aforementioned factors into account.
The app’s new “Explore” feature is described as a new way to “browse and discover” popular local places to eat, drink, shop, play and sleep , with Google now also providing simple 5-star ratings and reviews from your friends, alongside “expert” resturant reviews and information from Zagat, both of which should help you make a better choice when it comes to deciding where to go.
In addition to all of the above, Google Maps 2.0 also introduces ‘Google Offers .’ The new feature (available on both iPhone and iPad) will now show great deals from your favorite brands, so you can pick-up the latest gear at a fraction of its normal retail cost.
Complete with the ability to see Indoor Maps with walking directions for malls, transit stations, airports, (and more) — Google Maps 2.0 is a welcome update to Google’s take on navigation for iOS, and is now available FREE on the App Store.
