The most dangerous love story ever told is about to be re-adapted for the big-screen, as Academy Award-winning creator of Downton Abbey, Julian Fellowes, takes William Shakespeare‘s epic story of the two young star-crossed lovers back to its traditional roots.

First hitting the silver screen back in 1936, the story of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ has (thus far) been re-adapted by several different screenwriters and directors a whopping five times, the first adaptation of which arrived in the form of Lev Arnshtam and Leonid Lavrovsky’s version, that first captured audiences’ hearts in 1955.

This was followed by two further screen adaptions of the story; Romeo and Juliet (1954), and Romeo and Juliet (1968), and later Romeo + Juliet (1996) – which is my personal favourite, telling the story of the star-crossed lovers in the setting of modern society, and replacing the metaphor of the ‘sword’ for a weapon.

Romeo and Juliet (2013) – set to be directed by Carlo Carlei – is the latest adaptation of the lover’s legendary story, and is set to hit cinemas in the U.S – on October 11, 2013.

The movie will feature Douglas Booth as ‘Romeo,’ and see Hailee Steinfeld play the role of ‘Juliet’ — and the good news is, you don’t have to wait to see a clip from Romeo and Juliet (2013), as the official trailer for the movie is now available to watch exclusively on iTunes Movie Trailers.
