Set to hit our screens for a 10th time, this Saturday, the official X Factor app is back — poised and ready to serve you with the latest news, photos and gossip from the search for the world’s next big music artist.
Released today, the new version of the app now includes full support for Apple’s iPad. Previously, the app was only available for those who owned either an iPhone or iPod touch.
“Watch all the biggest performances minutes after they appear on TV. Play the brand new ‘Fifth Judge’ game which lets you make predictions, test your X Factor knowledge and give your opinion in real time during the show itself. Enjoy all the latest backstage news, photos and gossip.”
Using the all-new and revamped X Factor app you’ll be able to cast your vote on the performance you’re watching, in real-time, as you browse the latest news about the contestants, view backstage photos of all the action, and learn more about the show’s new format.
Returning to its original roots, this year the UK X Factor is set to reintroduce the ‘room’ format it originally used for contestant auditions prior to 2007, versus the new format of initially performing in front of a live audience.
On Saturday, you’ll get to see how the contestants perform when just in front of the judges. The format will see each contestant enter the room individually, (with the exception of groups), and perform for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
If they manage to pass this round, on Sunday, you’ll then get to see how these same contestants hold up to the pressure of singing in front of a 4,000-strong audience.
Of course, returning to take her seat on the judging panel – (for the first time since 2007) – is the one and only, Sharon Osborne, who is sure to add something new, interesting and fun into the mix for this special anniversary season. Sharon will be joined by Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh.
Those looking to watch the show can tune-in this Saturday (August 31) from 8PM. There’s also a ‘bumper’ episode ITV is set to air after the main show, which will take the show’s running past 9PM. Each weekend, the show will air on Saturday and Sunday, following the format as described above.
