Samsung’s New Galaxy Gear TV Ad Might Actually Convince You – [VIDEO]

If you’re still wondering if Samsung‘s camera-laden “smartwatch” is for you, the company’s new television ad released this week might just be the convincer you’ve been waiting on …

The Samsung Galaxy Gear was first introduced at the IFA technology expo, in Berlin, Germany, at the beginning of September – and, as noted by our friends at MacRumors, the first television spot designed to market the device to the general public would appear to be a throw back to the style used for Apple’s 2007 iPhone ad, “Hello.”

The advert takes advantage of clips from science-fiction shows; Star Trek, Dick Tracy, and Knight Rider to try and convey the ‘futuristic’ thinking behind such a product, and highlight the “reality” that the technology is finally available on the market.

Both adverts are unique in their own right — providing the viewer with a look at the past, while visually marking how far the advances in technology regarding the devices and products they originally saw in the movies (and television shows) have come in recent years.
