I have to admit that, like many of you out there, I’ve always been a big fan of the Ridge Racer (リッジレーサー) franchise. I don’t know, there’s just something about it that makes it feel like I’m playing a real arcade game.
NAMCO first brought the franchise to iOS, in December 2009, with the release of Ridge Racer: Accelerated. The title promised players “top-class racing,” as the console racing series that had been making waves since its original arcade debut in 1993 was about to “set the standard” for simple-yet-exhilarating drift-racing, once again.
Now, NAMCO is turning up the heat by introducing a second Ridge Racer title to the App Store. Ridge Racer: Slipstream first became available for download on the store just before the holidays, and was almost instantly met with a 4 out of 5 star rating from long-time fans of the racing series.
Exactly three years on, Ridge Racer: Slipstream arrives featuring 12 powerful rides, 300 customization possibilities allowing you to create your “dream machine,” and 6 game-changing “Perks” that will likely give you those well-needed extra advantages.
The game also packs 10 unique venues and 20 courses for a head-to-head racing blitz-out, as you ride your way through 108 competitions across 6 Grand Prix Series.
Claiming “high-end graphics” that will transport you to beautifully detailed locations across the city of Tokyo, such as; The Lost Ruins, Industrial Drive, Harbor Line, Old Central, (and others), Ridge Racer: Slipstream is now just $2.99 during its launch period.
The game’s release on Android has been delayed until “Early 2014.”
