Former Apple retail head and JC Penney CEO, Ron Johnson, is reportedly – out – according to “a source familiar with the situation.” CNBC, who was first to report on the rumours, notes that “it [is] unclear if a successor has been named.”
Despite recently losing its title of “The World’s Most Valuable Company” to oil giant Exxon Mobil, Apple is tonight reflecting a total worth which is greater than that of $XOM, surpassing the oil conglomerate for a second time in after hours trading.
Apple has announced this afternoon that it will officially launch a 128GB version of its 9.7-inch iPad, on February 5. The new storage option will arrive at a $100 premium to Apple’s existing 64GB iPad, becoming the line’s high-end offering.

Following the seeding of OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3 (Build 12D50) on January 9, Apple has this morning seeded a new build of OS X Mountain Lion to developers. The new build carries the build number ‘12D54’ and, (just like the last build), requires that developers first download and install the ‘OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility’ – before installation can proceed.
