Perhaps not too surprising given the recent pace of jailbreak solutions for devices running iOS 6 (Beta), iOS hacker Grant Paul (@Chpwn) has this weekend become the first person in the world to jailbreak Apple’s less-than-48-hour old smartphone.
Perhaps not the prettiest of options available out there, those of you looking for the ability to add widgets to your iPhone or iPad‘s homescreen may wish to check out a new Cydia tweak called ‘Dashboard X’. First highlighted by the good folk over at iClarified, once installed, Dashboard X claims to give users the ability to place widgets – (including those which have already been created by the community for use with Apple’s Notification Center) – on either their homescreen or iOS dashboard.
Developed by Ryan Petrich, ‘Untrackerd’ is a new Cydia available utility that when installed, activates a daemon which prevents iOS from adding any further location data to “consolidated.db”, the secret file which Apple has been using to track your every move, since the introduction of iOS 4.0.
According to Twitter user @Chpwn (thought to be a member of the Dev-Team), Apple has blocked all access to Amazon servers which identify themselves under gs.apple.com, used to authenticate SHSH certificates for App Store alternative, Cydia.
Remember how yesterday we told you Toyota affiliate Scion had taken advantage of Jay Freeman’s jailbreak-available store Cydia as a platform for its 2011 marketing campaign? – Well, as you probably know, that advertising campaign also saw the company release a variety of tweaks and theme elements on Cydia for users of the jailbreak community to download.
Although the App Store alternative ‘Cydia’, originally created by Jay Freeman (@Saurik), is often looked down upon by various App Store developers for opening the door to sensitive issues such as app piracy, large corporate firms are now seeing the potential in the way of advertising on this emerging platform. With millions of iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users “jailbreaking” their devices to take advantage of hacks and tweaks and functionality not yet available on Apple’s devices out of the box, this has seen the Cydia store itself become an absolute gold mine for those wishing to gain exposure for themselves.
Today, a number of screenshots, originally posted by iPhoneDownloadBlog, are making the rounds showing Twitter’s “Quick Bar”, (which was removed from the company’s official client yesterday), present in the App Store alternative, Cydia. At first we thought it was a joke in itself (and it turns out it is) – but let us explain further …
Earlier today, we told you how Celeste – an application designed for jailbroken users which allows the sending and receiving of songs, photos and contacts to and from other iOS devices (via Bluetooth), had already hit Cydia and was available to download worldwide.

According to iSpazio, who notes a tweet from @CocoaNutApps, the same guys who are also expected to release Celeste in the coming hours, we may just see Cydia 1.1 hit the wires sometime later today.
